Eclectic Cars Preparation, Warranty and After Sales Policy
We are a small collective of enthusiasts that take care and pride in the way that we source, prepare and sell our cars. We treat the people we buy from, prepare our cars with and sell to with respect. We try and make sure that everyone enjoys the experience of owning and working on our cars. Please read through our policy below, it explains what we do and how we will look after you. It also forms the basis of our sales contract and our promise to you as a customer.
Preparation
Every car that comes into stock goes through our three stage process before it is advertised for sale.
Paper work check – Before we buy a vehicle or accept a commission we check through the vehicles history file to establish that it has been well cared for and that the current keeper has clear title. In our sales file there will be an up to date and independent certificate to confirm owners/engine and chassis numbers/previous registration numbers/insurance and finance status. This done through HPI and makes sure that there are no nasty surprises in the future.
Bodywork/chassis/trim check – This is undertaken by our detailing department. The structure, bodywork and interior of the vehicle is physically inspected and a report made, we then decide on how to best rectify any issues and protect the car for the future without destroying the cars integrity and value. The result is that our vehicles look as good in real life as they do on our website. Nothing is hidden.
Mechanical check – This is carried out by a trained mechanic. For our more exotic stock we use a marque specialist. We check the cars drive train, braking and suspension systems, electrical systems and cooling systems. Any deficiencies that we can see will cause a problem in the immediate future are rectified and the vehicle serviced up to date. We provide invoices for all work that we carry out. All our cars are sold with a minimum of 9 months MOT.
We sell cars that are generally over 20 years old and they will require on going maintainance. By taking the above approach we try to ensure that your car will be reliable and not cause you financial pain, however unforeseen issues do sometimes arise. We do not shirk our responsibility as a retailer and therefore offer the following support to our UK based clients.
Warranty
Since establishing the business in 1998 we have tried a number of insurance backed warranty products. The feedback that we have had from over 200 customers is that they very rarely help when you really need them. With vehicles over 10 years old the hourly rate that they will pay for is very low and the maximum claim is just £1000 including VAT. They will also find any excuse to reject the claim however legitimate. If you want this piece of mind we will pay for a three month policy (which can be extended up to two years at your cost) with in the price of the car, but we prefer to offer you the following promise.
Eclectic Cars Promise
We will remedy any mechanical, structural or electrical fault that occurs within 3 months of your delivery date. This offer only excludes ware and tare items such as brakes, clutch, tyres and fluids and damage done by neglect, but there is no financial limit or paperwork to fill in. We sell our cars all over the UK, therefore if the vehicle can be fixed for £250 + VAT or less we are happy for you to get it fixed locally and send us the bill after we have agreed to such a remedy. For any issues that cost more than this, the car must be delivered back to us so that we can project manage the repair.
We will do everything possible to get the vehicle turned round as efficiently and professionally as possible but please remember that getting hold of spare parts for old cars can sometimes be a tricky and time consuming business.
